There’s No Place Like Home

The immortal words of Dorothy played by Judy Garland in the Wizard of OZ as she prepares to return to Kansas and Aunty Em and Uncle Henry. That might be just fiction but in reality has a lot of truth in it. Sometimes we take our home and surroundings for granted unlike other parts of our world where poverty, war, crime and corruption are often part of daily life.

No Place Like Home

Sitting in the warm sun writing this piece surrounded by only by flowers, my dog and the sound of Cockatoos having their morning chat in the trees above, I would have to agree with Dorothy that there is no place like home and a perfect sanctuary.

People generally feel safe in familiar environments and feel in control of themselves within the walls of their home giving a sense of a barrier between you and the outside world.

How many times have I heard people say on returning from holidays that they had a great time but are happy to be home? So in conclusion I tend to agree with the saying “there’s no place like home” and am grateful we live in a part of the world where we can still walk our streets, go and have a coffee and chat to our neighbor over the fence.
