With a touch of déjà vu, the Combined Probus Club of Cherrybrook returned to hold its August meeting via Zoom.
This meeting also saw the celebration of the club’s 22nd Birthday and the second time it was held remotely following a similar experience in August 2020. Once again the fake Birthday Cake made an appearance showing that it can rise twice unlike a soufflé!
The meeting followed the usual format interspersed with light-hearted banter. Some members have become a little too proficient at Zoom and can unmute themselves a little too easily! Reports were given outlining upcoming events as this group remains optimistic for the future and have learnt that most things can be pushed back a few months (hopefully no longer!) as necessary. As part of the celebration, in addition to cake and toasts, a Birthday Quiz was held offering bragging rights in the chat room after the meeting to the Brainy Bunch complete with photographic evidence!
Next month Probus Day will be celebrated on 1st October with the theme ‘Celebrate Probus – Do a Friend a Favour’. We hope there are many new friends out there in our community just waiting to join us so if you are an able-bodied, semi-retired or retired couple and have promised yourselves to get out, meet new people and have new experiences the Combined Probus Club of Cherrybrook could be for you.
Our meetings are usually held at the Cherrybrook Community and Cultural Centre on the first Thursday of the month but are currently suspended. For up to date information please contact Ross on 0411 104 863. We look forward to warmly welcoming you to our Probus Club.
