Probus Ponderings A Day At The Races

By Susan Wilson

The cooler days of Winter have not deterred members of the Combined Probus Club of Cherrybrook from getting out and about. We began June with our regular meeting, a very social Happy Hour, a visit to the Wyong Races balanced with a walk the following day along the lovely Parramatta River and finished off the month with a return to Ten Pin Bowling.

All activities were great fun but the day at the races took the award this month not for the fortunes made but definitely for the opportunity to see members decked out in their finery! The ladies, in particular, looked resplendent in their fabulous fascinators and the men scrubbed up quite well in their sartorial suits.

In July, hopefully after restrictions ease, we are looking forward to a most interesting guest speaker discussing ‘Nuclear Power – Australia’s Answer to Climate Change?’ followed by a social drive, a Christmas in July celebration, our monthly walk, a trip away and another Ten Pin Bowling session. Life is very busy in retirement!

If you are an able-bodied, semi-retired or retired couple and have promised yourselves to get out, meet new people and have new experiences the Combined Probus Club of Cherrybrook could be for you.

Our meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month at the Cherrybrook Community and Cultural Centre. For up to date information please contact Ross on 0411 104 863. We look forward to warmly welcoming you to our Probus Club.
