Kenthurst Probus Club: A Hub for Social Activities

Somewhere between a round of Putt-Putt golf at Dural and a ferry ride down the Parramatta River, the Kenthurst Probus Club has quietly built something a lot of people are searching for: a reason to get out of the house.

The club’s recent months have been full. Members played mini golf, toured Cockatoo Island, and took in a production of Anastasia at the Star Theatre. None of it is flashy. All of it was clearly enjoyed.

What’s coming is just as varied as a visit to the nuclear energy facility at Lucas Heights, a Christmas-in-July dinner at the Fiddler, and Cirque Du Soleil at the Entertainment Quarter later in the year. Plus regular group walks for those who prefer their outings on foot.

At last month’s meeting, member Graham Sims wrapped up the second part of his two-part talk on Breaker Morant, the British immigrant who came to Australia, fought in the Boer War in South Africa, and was court-martialled and shot by firing squad. By all accounts, Graham’s research turned up some genuinely surprising details about the Breaker’s life and his loves.

Kenthurst Probus meets on the third Monday of each month, except December, at 9.30 am in the Uniting Church building on the corner of Kenthurst Road and Jones Road. Visitors are welcome. Contact Roselie Chaloner on 0410 911 917.
