Getting back to Business after a break

If you’ve taken a break from business, or just your marketing, and need to get back to it, here are some tips to get back to business after a break.

YOUR CUSTOMERS MAY NOT HAVE EVEN NOTICED YOU DISAPPEARED!
Sometimes we get really hung up on this, but the reality is if the customer has had their own issues, they may not have noticed. Often it won’t be noticed as people drop out of a customer’s social feeds anyway, and that could have happened when posting normally. In these cases, you can just continue as if you hadn’t stopped.

FOR EMAILS
I do suggest making a comment about the gap. You don’t want people to have forgotten about you and thinking you’ve scraped their details and are spamming them. If it has been an extended gap, then it can be good to remind them how they signed up to your email list. Otherwise, a simple “We’re back!” may be sufficient if your list knows you well.

HIGH DEMAND VERSUS LOW OR NO DEMAND
In some cases being back after an enforced break can mean your demand is excessively high. Do not discount or market excessively, because demand will exceed supply anyway.

If however you are starting from a lower point, or maybe you had barely started to begin with, then I would take a more structured approach to your return. Go back to basics and review your buyer persona(s), your marketing plan, and set a clear path for your marketing.
