Sunday afternoon September 18th will see The Galston Concerts showcasing prize-winner performers in the Galston Uniting Church.
A musical ‘Gold-Gold-Gold’ Gala program will present winners of national and international competitions.
The 1.30pm organ prelude will feature Samuel Giddy, a perennial prizewinner of Organ Music Society of Sydney contests. Pre-COVID 2019 for Sam (pictured right) included competition success in Germany and an organ recital tour of great churches and cathedrals of England.
Returning in 2019 to his present role as Senior Organ Scholar at St Andrew’s Cathedral, Sam recently s tarred as concerto soloist with the St Andrew’s Cathedral Orchestra.
The 2pm main concert will see the Galston return of the Piccolo String Quartet, major prize-winners in Musica Viva Australia’s Strike a Chord national chamber music competition in 2021. The Piccolos, with Kenthurst cellist Jack Theakston, to play Beethoven and Dvorak at the Gala, are also finalists in the 2022 Strike A Chord.
Award winners of The Galston Concerts very own International Viola Competition, open to young violists of Australia and New Zealand, are destined to perform 18th September.
The 2022 Strike A Chord and the major championships of the Sydney Eisteddfod, culminating in September, are other talent pools of potential performers for the Gala.
