Serious runners and families wanting a day out are being asked to put on their running shoes and join the 2022 Cross Country Challenge at Bella Vista Farm Park organised by Castle Hill Rotary Club.
The popular event is held in stages for runners of all abilities with the three different courses to suit people of every fitness level, finishing with a Fancy Dress Family Fun Run.
The 2022 Cross Country Challenge is on Saturday, September 11th and will be raising money for the local charities HeadSpace, Youth Insearch and The Positive Vibes Foundation which support young Australians and their families through issues such as mental illness and domestic violence.
You can register as a solo runner, as a family, or register a team with your mates or work colleagues.
Children under 16 have to be accompanied by an adult.
Entry costs are: Child (under 16) $10, Adult (16 to 60 years) $30 Seniors (60 plus) $10
The Expert course is 10.2 Km and starts at 8am, Intermediate is 6.8km and starts at 8.30am, The Family Fancy Dress Fun Run course is 3.4km and begins at 9.30am. Dogs on a leash can be part of the Family Fun Run.There will be a special prize for the best male and female fancy dress or costume.
The participant who raises the most money before the run will win three night’s accommodation at a luxurious penthouse on Hamilton Island valued at over $4000.
Organiser Mike Blair said: “Castle Hill Rotary has been part of the Orange Blossom Festival for many years and this new event created by us in 2017 brings to the Festival a new concept of bringing together the Community to celebrate what is great about our Shire.
“We have tried to make this a family event, but at the same time cater for runners of all different levels of abilities.” He said 450 people had registered for the 2019 event.
“It was very disappointing that we had to postpone our event in 2020 and 2021 as the feedback we received from our last event in 2019 from the participants were such that not only did they enjoyed being involved, they said they could not wait until next year. “
