Clear Round Show Jumping Brought Clear Skies

Following what seemed like months of disruptive rain and following April’s Clear Round Show Jumping weather cancellation, Galston Equestrian Club (GEC) hosted their long-awaited Show Jumping Competition on Sunday 12 June 2022.

The day dawned clear and bright with none of the windy and wild weather predicted. All classes were full to the brim of eager riders, keen to test out their skills. There was something for every rider and skill level – from cross rails all the way up to 110cm.

Across the day, two arenas were kept busy with 51 riders, many of whom brought more than one horse and jumped multiple heights. A broad range of equestrians were represented, including some younger entrants on speedy ponies taking honours in some of the jump offs against the clock.

It was great to hear the cheers of encouragement for riders just getting through the round on some very young horses through to some of our senior equestrians elegantly completing the course on well-trained and trusted horses.

A laugh, a sigh over a not so clear round and always a thank you to the officials. This is why community sport is so important to the wider community – bringing all ages together in friendly competition to enjoy and experience a shared passion for our sport and for the love of our equine friends.

The GEC Committee works extremely hard to host professional events each and every time and the show-jumping competition was no exception.

We’d like to thank our judges – Jenny Neil and Britt Sedgmen for a stellar job across the entire day and the words of encouragement and support to all competitors.

Congratulations to all our winners on the day. It is thanks to the wonderful support of our sponsors that the club are able to host such eagerly awaited events.

We’d like to thank our jump sponsors for their ongoing support, including Guardian Realty, Beecroft Physio, Bendigo Bank and Valley View Nursery.

GEC hosts a varied number of training and competition events to suit all equestrians including showjumping, dressage, working equitation, gymkhanas and many others.
