Castle Hill Organisations Encouraged to Apply for $17 Million Crown Reserves Improvement Fund

The NSW Government has opened applications for its $17 million Crown Reserves Improvement Fund to maintain and upgrade public reserves, and eligible Castle Hill organisations are encouraged to apply.

Member for Castle Hill Ray Williams MP said the Department of Planning and Environment – Crown Lands has opened applications until 3 June 2022.

“The Crown Reserves Improvement Fund maintains and upgrades reserves and community facilities on Crown land across NSW,” Mr Williams said.

“This year the NSW Government will invest $17 million across the state to benefit community, recreational and tourism facilities on Crown land reserves.

“Grant applications are open to Crown land reserve managers including local councils, community groups who use Crown land and all showgrounds, so I strongly encourage eligible local organisations to apply.

“The fund will support improvements to community, recreational and tourism facilities on Crown reserves while also supporting local businesses and economies.

“It also funds weed and pest control to protect our environment and native plants and animals.”

Minister for Lands and Water, Kevin Anderson said quality public reserves were vital to the health and well-being of local communities.

“Residents need quality natural spaces to relax and rejuvenate and this fund enhances local reserves that provide green open recreational space and protect our environmental diversity,” Mr Anderson said.

“The fund also upgrades facilities on Crown land used by organisations at the heart of our communities, like surf life saving clubs, scouts and girl guide groups, public halls, the RSPCA and PCYC.”

Mr Anderson said this year’s fund will provide welcome assistance for a range of reserves.

“Many of our reserves, like other businesses, have done it tough during COVID-19 and floods which have impacted their ability to operate and forced the postponement or cancellation of local events and other activities,” Mr Anderson said.

“These grants will help get communities back on their feet by funding improvements to Crown land that will drive the visitor economy in the regions”.
