Stuart Yeend and Phil Laing Win Open Nominated Pairs 2026

Open Nominated Pairs Final success went to Stuart Yeend and Phil Laing this season, who defeated Graeme Giles and Robert Whiddon 22-12 to take the 2026 crown. Still, the crowd that filled Dural on Monday 28th September gave the club its liveliest day.

That was the date of the 2nd Parramatta League and Dural Club Sponsored Triples Carnival, and it drew every team it could hold. Twenty-eight teams turned up, representing 26 different clubs, with visitors travelling from Brisbane, the Central Coast, Corrimal, Waverley, Mosman, Glenbrook and Penrith.

The weather did not help, with cloud overhead and greens slowed by earlier rain. Nobody seemed to mind. The day was full of banter between the rinks, followed by a good lunch, a presentation and a raffle. When it was over, the Glenbrook team went home as winners.

It followed a weekend that kept Dural members busy. On Saturday 26th September, Kate Liu and Tony Simnor played at the 2026 Bowls NSW Rookie Pairs Metro North-West Qualifiers at Toongabbie Sports and Bowling Club and won all three matches to reach the semi-finals. The next day, Sunday 27th September, they were back in the rain facing the Hills pair, and their run ended with a loss. Dural congratulated them both.

There is more to come. The next carnival, sponsored by Living Choice, is on Monday 26th October. The Ladies Major Singles is at the semi-final stage, and the Men’s Major Singles is due to start on 24th October.
