Nominate your Castle Hill Local Senior of the Year 2027

By Mark Hodges MP

Castle Hill residents can recognise an outstanding older person in their community through the 2027 NSW Seniors Festival Local Senior of the Year Awards, with nominations opening on Tuesday 10th November 2026.

Member for Castle Hill Mark Hodges MP said the awards celebrate the tremendous contribution seniors make to their community.

“If you know a senior who strives to make our community a better place through volunteering, innovation or simply supporting family and friends, I encourage you to nominate them for recognition,” Mr Hodges said.

“We are fortunate to have so many seniors in our local community who are generous with their time, energy and commitment.

“By highlighting seniors’ continued efforts in helping Castle Hill thrive, we are challenging ageism and celebrating the valuable role older people play in our community.”

Each year, MPs across NSW use the awards to recognise seniors whose service, leadership and dedication have made a meaningful difference to others.

In 2026, Kenneth Walsh, Ann O’Connor and Elaine White were celebrated at a special morning tea at The Hills Club. Kenneth and Ann were recognised for their dedicated support of veterans and their families, while Elaine’s longstanding contribution to environmental conservation and local heritage was acknowledged.

Their service demonstrates the lasting difference seniors make across The Hills.

Nominations can recognise contributions through community service, volunteering, promoting health and wellbeing, cultural activities, creative achievements and sharing knowledge across generations.

Nomination forms will be available by scanning the QR code accompanying this article or by contacting the Castle Hill Electorate Office. Completed forms must be returned to the office by Wednesday 10th February 2027.

Nominators should complete all sections of the form and inform the person they are nominating.

The awards form part of the NSW Seniors Festival, which runs from 1st to 14th March 2027. Details of the Castle Hill awards presentation will be announced separately.

The festival promotes social inclusion and connection, encouraging older people to participate in art, sport, music, entertainment, technology, travel, health, wellbeing and recreation.

“These awards are an opportunity to thank the people whose contribution can sometimes go unrecognised,” Mr Hodges said.

“I encourage residents and community organisations to help us recognise the seniors who make Castle Hill such a special place to live.”
