West Pennant Hills Sports Club has had a big few weeks, starting with its annual Presentation Night on Sunday evening, 26th July, when roughly 80 members and partners sat down to a two-course meal and a rundown of the year’s highlights on the green.
The trophy cabinet got a workout. Steve Arnold picked up the Major Singles, Rod Houston the Minor Singles, and the pairs titles went to Max Walters and David Jeffery in the Major and Robin Rath and Brian Barton in the Minor, each collecting a small trophy alongside the club’s perpetual silverware. There were plenty more winners and runners-up on the night than there’s room to mention here, but every one of them earned a round of applause.
Club People of the Year also went to Vicki Brown and Tinus Van Vuuren, the club’s picks for the female and male members who stood out most over the past twelve months.
Fast forward to Saturday 8th August and it was time for the club’s Annual General Meeting, where members elected a fresh Management Committee: Lyn Van Wyk as President, Brian Barton as Vice President, Janne Reynolds as Treasurer, Sue Ayling as Secretary and Graeme Oddy as Bowls Coordinator, with further appointments made to the Selection Panel, the Match and Greens Committees, and the Welfare Officer position.
