It was a tremendous achievement by St Bernadette’s Primary against some of the best junior sides in NSW. Over 850 teams across 40 different schools competed from 13 regions at the Hawkesbury PCYC.
Excelsior Public School were also unlucky in the boys under 10 final, going down 0-3 to Moriah College. But the Castle Hill school can hold their heads up high for entering two finals on the back of strong performances over four.
The State Championships attracted boys and girls teams from Sydney, Central Coast, Wollongong, Shoalhaven, Newcastle, Bathurst, Orange, Wagga Wagga, and even Canberra.
Football NSW’s Community Clubs and Centres Coordinator Jamie Dib said it was a pleasure to provide schools and students from all over NSW the opportunity to play futsal against a variety of different schools after a two-year break.
“The State Championships was the perfect week to end what was a fantastic year of school futsal,” Dib said. “Each day of the State Championships was played with an incredible level of quality, enthusiasm, competitiveness, respect, and sportsmanship.
“It was fulfilling to see each student represent their school with so much pride, and it was fantastic to be able to provide the students an opportunity to play at an exciting tournament with some of their best mates.”

More than 5300 schools received funding in term 2 with over half a million participants involved in the programs that are delivered before, during, and after school.
