Members of our Club were among 600 individuals, organisations and dignitaries who attended the official opening of Grace’s Place at Doonside on 2 February 2023.
This world first, purpose-built facility was commissioned by the Homicide Victim Support Group and provides counselling and support for family members who have been affected by homicide. Our Club participated in a working bee to help prepare Grace’s Place for its opening as well as committing funds from its 2022 Trivia Night to this worthy cause.
On Monday 20 February original former Yellow Wiggle, Greg Page was our guest speaker at Springfield House. A number of local Rotary Clubs as well as other community groups eg Scouts, Girl Guides and RFS joined us to hear about the amazing work of this national charity – ‘Heart of the Nation’, which was created by Greg, and deals with CPR education and training, defibrillator acquisition and placement, as well as establishing an app to track the location of these important community resources.
UPCOMING EVENTS
The Club’s Annual Giant Book Sale is on again from Friday 10 March to Sunday 12 March (9am – 5pm) at the Cherrybrook Uniting Church in New Line Road, Cherrybrook. This is the Club’s biggest fundraiser of the year. Come along and find some amazing bargains on good quality books, original CDs, DVDs, records and sheet music. Proceeds from this Book Sale will be going to Greg Page’s ‘Heart of the Nation’ and other Rotary charities.
On 14 November 2022 a tsunami travelled through the western NSW town of Eugowra. The Rotary Club of Parkes was asked to help this small community, who responded positively but also put out the call to all Rotary Clubs in NSW. On Monday 13 March the Rotary Club of Parkes will be our guest speaker at Springfield House and will talk about the ordeal this community has been through and how Rotary has responded to help.
The Club will be running an Election BBQ at West Pennant Hills Primary School on 25 March 2023.
The Club will be at Bunnings Castle Hill on 15 April 2023.
