Rotary Club of West Pennant Hills and Cherrybrook

The Rotary Club has been busy in the community. On 8th July members got to work and repaired rotten wooden stairs at the Cherrybrook Guide Hall.

On 25th July members of the Club made a vocational trip to the Westmead Institute for Medical Research. The Institute is one of the largest in Australia and it conducts research across eye and brain related disorders, heart and respiratory disorders, liver and metabolic diseases, cancer and immune and infectious diseases.

Professor Anthony Harris talked about the important work being undertaken in mental health research. The members saw a little of the cutting-edge technology used by the Institute.

The Club participated in the Rotary Club of Norwest Sunrise’s Trivia Night at Wesley Uniting Church at Castle Hill on 30th July. It was a fun, sporting-themed trivia event raising funds for flood relief.

On 31st July Club members participated in and celebrated National Tree Day. A bee/ bird friendly native grevillea was planted in their Rotary Garden at Cherrybrook. The Club also gifted a tree to the Rural Fire Service and the Girl Guides and planted those in their respective precincts adjacent to the Rotary Garden.

Upcoming Activities
The Club will be at Bunnings Dural on 24th September and at Bunnings Thornleigh on 15th October. A cake stall will also be held at Bunnings Dural on 24th September.

The Club will be holding a Mini Garage Sale on 1 October at Cherrybrook Uniting Church selling tools, plants, bric-a-brac, sporting and electrical goods, homewares and cakes.
