Renewing the Beecroft Village Green

CLLR DR VERITY GREENWOOD | Hornsby Shire Council

Work has finally begun on the revitalisation of the Beecroft Village Green, an important and valued community park.

The Beecroft Village Masterplan, endorsed and adopted by Hornsby Shire Council in June 2023, is a result of ongoing community consultation and engagement.

The Community spoke and the Council certainly listened. Over two years ago, the community requested my assistance to ensure the park renewal would become a reality, to preserve the park’s heritage character, and ensuring safe, accessible, practical and improved community play, exercise, recreation and social spaces.

Council responded with a detailed design including an upgraded playground, a basketball half court, outdoor fitness stations, picnic shelters and BBQ, water bubbler, bike racks and upgraded public toilets.

Special thanks to the local community who supported my push for the Village Green renewal. With ample seating in rest areas, improved landscaping and walking paths, shaded by turpentine ironbark forest, the park will cater for all ages and abilities.

In speaking to the enthusiastic Council team, it is apparent that creating the new park is not just a job, it is to ensure the Village Green remains relevant for present and future generations.
