Police are seeking the public’s help as investigations continue into the death of North Ryde grandfather Chris Baghsarian, who was allegedly kidnapped earlier this year.
Mr Baghsarian, 85, was reported missing from his North Ryde home in the early hours of 13 February 2026, prompting a major police operation involving local officers and specialist detectives.
Investigators later determined that Mr Baghsarian was not the intended target and had allegedly been taken in a case of mistaken identity.
His remains were discovered near a golf club in Pitt Town on 24 February.
The investigation, led by State Crime Command’s Robbery & Serious Crime Squad under Strike Force Chabot, has already resulted in four people being charged. Those matters remain before the courts.
Detectives have now released CCTV images of a man they believe may be able to assist with their ongoing inquiries.
The man was seen at a hardware store in Leppington about 7.30 am on 11 February, two days before the alleged kidnapping.
He is described as being of Mediterranean or Middle Eastern appearance, between 175cm and 185cm tall, of medium build, with long brown hair and a beard. He was wearing a lime green T-shirt, black shorts and white runners.
Police are urging anyone who recognises the man, or who may have information relevant to the investigation, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
The appeal comes as detectives continue to piece together the circumstances surrounding the death of Mr Baghsarian, a case that has attracted significant attention across Sydney since February.
