North Ward Update

By Mitchell Blue

Well here we in June looking toward the second half of 2022. It’s great to see the community back to some normality after Covid. The flood recovery along the Hawkesbury continues, and whilst progress is being made, there is still a significant amount of work to do. North Ward

Wisemans Ferry Park cleanup works are continuing. The damage to the roads along the river is apparent and design works to rectify these are underway. River Rd has been significantly damaged in areas. No doubt the impacts of this flood will be felt for some time. Local businesses along the river have done it tough, so please support them where you can.

The significant rainfall has seen a number of potholes on Shire roads open up. Thanks to our North Ward residents who have reported these and for the patience shown while these are rectified. A number of potholes that saw emergency repairs undertaken during the inclement weather will see more permanent fixes as the weather improves.

It is very exciting to see the projects in this plan and look forward to their delivery.

At the end of May, Council opened the new Hannaford Ave Reserve in Box Hill. The design of the new park saw a large amount of community input to ensure it was tailored to their needs. There is children’s play equipment, bubblers, picnic areas amongst other things.

It’s great to see a large green turfed area for picnics, kicking a ball or laying in the grass. A number of trees will provide shade as they mature. The opening event saw a few hundred residents at the park along with the Hills mobile library, face painting, bubble blowers and a mobile coffee van! A great community atmosphere! We look forward to seeing the community use this facility and to delivering more reserves for the community.

If there is anything we can be of assistance with, please send us an email or give us a call. We are more than happy to assist where we can.
