Castle Hill Art Society is hosting a landscape painting workshop with Morris Yang on Sunday 17 May, from 10 am to 4 pm.
Yang works in oils and acrylics and teaches through demonstration first — a live session where participants watch the decisions being made, not just the finished result. The day then splits into two practice stages: copying a master work to absorb specific techniques, then painting from provided photo references.
The focus is practical: how to use a brushstroke as an expressive choice rather than a mechanical one, how edges control where the eye goes, and how colour temperature creates depth. Yang also covers simplifying complex landscape shapes into broader forms — the part of outdoor painting most beginners skip and most experienced painters eventually circle back to.
The workshop is open to all levels. Bookings close Friday, 1 May 2026. Contact Luce Lopez on 0419 496 621.
