Kenthurst Combined Probus Club

Kenthurst Combined Probus Club is “combined” in that we have members of either gender (the first Probus clubs were men only).

Recently, Club members participated in a walking excursion at Lake Parramatta, now a recreation area, but once an integral part of the fresh water supply for western Sydney. Members participate in Seniors’ Concerts in the Sydney Town Hall, and local outings to the movies.

We conduct regular monthly meetings at which we listen to informative guest speakers on a variety of topics.

In October we had a talk by Ex-Navy Commander Ramon Rees (pictured) who had a lot to say and demonstrate about the Japanese midget submarine attack on Sydney Harbour in 1942.

In November our club was addressed by historian Graham Sims whose intriguing subject was Bea Miles – Sydney Siders will remember her as the extreme eccentric who roamed the inner City and terrorized taxi drivers, and quoted Shakespeare from memory.

The Club will not hold a formal meeting in December as we are all rather busy preparing for Christmas.

Our meetings are held at the Kenthurst Uniting Church on the corner of Jones Road and Kenthurst Road on the third Monday of each month at 9.30 AM: always included in the agenda is a cup of tea and a chat amongst all those present. Visitors are always welcome. For more information contact Burt Stuut on 9652 1239 or 0424 247 003.
