Home Quarantine Pilot Program

BY DAVID ELLIOTT MP

A seven day home quarantine program for around 175 people will be trialled in Greater Sydney in October, as NSW transitions towards reopening international borders.

The pilot, to be operated and monitored by NSW Health and NSW Police, will include participants who have had both doses of a TGA-accredited COVID-19 vaccine.

A mobile phone app, which uses geolocation and faces recognition technology, will be utilised to monitor isolation compliance and provide participants with a testing schedule and symptom checker.

Random in-person police checks will also be conducted, and the existing penalties for individuals who breach conditions of their isolation still apply.

The findings from the pilot will inform future quarantine programs and lay the foundations to reunite even more families and friends who are fully vaccinated.
