The Hills Shire Council is considering the set up of a permanent drop off centre for common household wastes which aren’t collected in kerbside waste and recycling collection services.
Council said it would prepare a report on the feasibility of setting up a Community Recycling Centre (CRC) which would accept items such as paint, gas bottles, fire extinguishers, motor oils, car batteries, household batteries, smoke detectors and fluorescent globes and tubes.
A recent community consultation of more than 2,000 respondents found 92% of residents were supportive of a local CRC (which would be year-round and free).
Council will also look at potential locations for the CRC.
