Following strong community support, the Greenway Park off-leash fenced dog park extension is now a reality.
Approximately 750m2 in size, this well-designed, safe and separate space for small dogs (under 6kg), puppies (up to 6 months old) and elderly dogs (over 10 years old) has seating in the shade and waste bins, dog waste bags and water.
There are presently seven existing dedicated fenced off-leash areas in Hornsby Shire and this extension will have a six-month trial period.
There are more than 40,000 pets and companion animals in the Shire, but backyards are getting smaller and outdoor spaces are becoming constrained.
Having a speciality-controlled space lets elderly dogs and small dogs like my Humphrey (pictured) to run free to play in the fresh air, exercise and socialise with other dogs whilst their owners relax
