The Glenorie Place Strategy has set the direction for Glenorie’s future, outlining how the village could accommodate limited growth while retaining the rural character that has long defined the community.
Adopted by The Hills Shire Council at its meeting on 16 June, the strategy will guide future planning for the village through a series of proposed planning controls, infrastructure priorities and public domain improvements.
Rather than supporting large-scale development, the strategy focuses on modest residential growth around the village centre. Council says this approach is intended to strengthen the local business precinct, improve walkability and reduce potential conflicts between residential areas and surrounding rural land, while protecting Glenorie’s productive landscapes.
The planning framework also identifies opportunities to enhance public spaces and infrastructure as the village evolves, with future development to be informed by Glenorie’s environmental constraints, servicing capacity and existing character.
Council said the strategy is not designed to contribute towards the NSW Government’s housing targets. Instead, it establishes a locally focused vision that balances future growth with the preservation of the village’s rural identity.
The strategy has been developed using previous planning work undertaken by Council and the NSW Government, supported by a range of technical investigations examining Glenorie’s economy, biodiversity, bushfire considerations and capacity for future development.
