Cherrybrook Public School to Get Major Upgrade

Deputy Premier and Minister for Education and Early Learning Prue Car announces upcoming schools in Cherrybrook and Bella Vista

Cherrybrook Public School will receive a major upgrade under the 2026-27 NSW Budget, with new permanent classrooms, improved facilities and the removal of demountable classrooms planned as the suburb continues to grow.

The upgrade will deliver 28 new permanent classrooms, a new school hall, canteen and expanded library, replacing existing demountable buildings on the site.

According to the NSW Government, the project is intended to support future enrolment growth associated with the proposed Cherrybrook rezoning and new housing planned for the area.

The Cherrybrook project forms part of a broader package of education infrastructure announced in the 2026-27 NSW Budget for The Hills district.

The budget also includes funding for two new schools in Bella Vista—a 1,200-student high school due to open for Day 1, Term 1, 2029, and a 1,000-student primary school with a co-located public preschool scheduled to open in Term 1, 2030.

The schools will be built on a site between Memorial Drive and Balmoral Road, close to the Kellyville and Bella Vista Metro stations.

Planning funding has also been allocated for the long-term future of Castle Hill High School.

The NSW Government said the combined projects are designed to meet growing demand for public education across the district as more families move into the area.

Deputy Premier and Minister for Education and Early Learning, Prue Car, said the Cherrybrook Public School upgrade would ensure education infrastructure keeps pace with residential growth.

“Families in Bella Vista will have access to a world-class public education – from preschool right through to HSC – all on the doorstep of two Metro stations,” the minister said.

“As the Government works to deliver new homes in Cherrybrook, we are also ensuring those families also have access to world-class public school infrastructure through a major upgrade to Cherrybrook Public School.”

The Cherrybrook upgrade adds to several other education projects already underway or planned across The Hills, including new schools at Box Hill and The Gables, as well as upgrades at Matthew Pearce Public School, Rouse Hill High School, Castle Hill Public School and Excelsior Public School.
