UPCOMING BUSHFIRE SEASON
The upcoming Bush Fire Danger Period is expected to commence on the 1st of October 2021 for the Hornsby/Ku-ringgai district (LGA’s) in which Dural is located.
It is important to ‘Get Ready’ by following these 4 steps:
1. Discuss what to do if a bush fire threatens your home
2. Prepare your home and get it ready for bush fire season
3. Know the bush fire alert levels
4. Keep all the bush fire information numbers, websites and the smartphone app
Information about current fires in Dural can be found on the NSW RFS website, ABC Local Radio 702 and on the ‘Fires Near Me app. For more information on how to prepare visit myfireplan.com.au/
PILE BURN REMINDER DURING THE BUSHFIRE DANGER PERIOD
It is important that landowners remain vigilant and aware of their responsibilities when lighting any fires to ensure they comply with their respective Council Burn Permits. Hundreds of bush fires across the state have started from escaped burns on private property. Make sure your pile burn is not the next.
Residents are reminded that a fire permit is required for burning activities during the Bush Fire Danger Period from the RFS. The fire permits help ensure fire is used safely and minimise the danger to you, your property and the community.
You also need to let your neighbours know at least 24 hours ahead of time. You can easily notify the RFS of your planned burn activity by scanning the QR code below and filling out the form or contacting your local Fire Control Centre on:
• Hornsby Rural Fire Control Centre – 02 9883 2000
• The Hills Rural Fire Control Centre – 02 9654 1244
