Every year, Transurban offers community grants of up to $10,000 for projects bringing social and environmental benefits to communities in Sydney near Transurban’s roads.
This year one of the latest Transurban community grant recipients is from the Baulkham Hills Electorate.
It is Ruben’s Place which is in Lexington Drive, Bella Vista. They received a $3,000 grant to instal a security fence around the entry door of their premises.
Ruben’s Place is part of Woodbury Autism Education and Research which is an independent, co-educational school for children with autism.
Woodbury School is focussed on providing a safe, caring, enjoyable and effective educational environment where students with autism can thrive and grow towards independence. To achieve their vision, the teachers at Woodbury utilise an educationally sound, research validated teaching and learning methodology known as ABA – applied behaviour analysis.
The highly trained teaching team provide expertise in the areas of behaviour support, speech and language pathology, occupational therapy, and special education.
Rubens Place was started when the educators saw the immense challenges children with Autism faced when starting their new school routine. This transition to school requires a settling in period for any young child, however for children with Autism navigating these challenges can be a difficult and stressful time. The early intervention service is for children to attend the year before they start school aged 3-5. The program is a part time placement which children attend 2 days per week for the 6 to 12 months prior to starting Kindergarten
