Opening of New Playground at Bella Vista Farm
The new playground at Bella Vista Farm was officially opened 10th October. There was a huge turn-out of local families and children who were very excited by this new addition to the area. The wonderful historic farm at Bella Vista has been the home of so many exciting community gatherings that have seen families come together in the Norwest area of The Hills.
Opening of the Barclay Road North Rocks Commuter Car Park
After almost a year of construction work and delays due to wet weather, the commuter car park at North Rocks was officially opened on the 21st October. This has added an additional 135 car spaces available to ‘Park and Ride’ commuters at North Rocks.
Expansion of the Return and Earn Scheme
The Return and Earn Scheme was introduced in 2017. Since then, more than eight billion containers have been returned, delivering $800 million in refunds, and more than $35 million in donations to community groups and charities, as helping to reduce drink container letter by a massive 52 per cent.
The NSW Government is planning to expand the scheme, so it includes containers like glass wine and spirit bottles and larger containers. This is an exciting opportunity to build on one of Australia’s most successful recycling initiatives and improve recycling practices in household across The Hills and NSW.
Consultation is now open on the Scheme’s expansion, which would see almost all beverage containers between 150ml, and 3 litres accepted for refund.
