When young Charles Mouyat was growing up in Dural, he never dreamed his parents’ beloved family home would one day become his own legacy to cherish and enhance. Together with his graphic designer wife Lara van der Wall, Charles has built a breathtaking professional studio on their Dural property.
At the peak of a design career that includes illustration, graphic design, photography and videography, Charles turned his creativity to fine art and mastering portrait painting. All of these disciplines enjoy a harmonious interplay in Studio Nero’s brand new Cyclorama Studio + Art Gallery.
Motosphereº The beating heart of Studio Nero is Motosphere°, a 13 x 7 x 3 metre bespoke cyclorama with integrated vehicle turntable. Charles’ professional specialty is producing premium motor vehicle imagery, and this facility was literally designed from the ground up to produce knockout portraits and video of prestige vehicles.
A fully enclosed space designed to bounce light back at the subject, Motosphere º is one of only two commercial studios with built-in turntable available for hire in Australia (the other is in Melbourne). This facility is singular because the true 360º envelope eliminates unwanted reflections from every angle, including the rear, providing photographers with shooting flexibility that is simply unmatched.

Art Gallery The new Studio Nero also features a bright gallery to display fine art. Having been hung twice in the Archibald Prize, Charles is currently building up a body of work for a solo exhibition. Studio Nero’s boutique gallery is an intimate public exhibition space for works in progress.
Future artistic plans include hosting life-drawing groups in the cyclorama, and plein-air sessions in the gorgeous garden surrounds. Artists, stay tuned!

Open Days at Studio Nero As a part of our introductory celebrations, Studio Nero is hosting Open Days for those curious to inspect the exceptional new facility!
Drop by on Saturday 9 May or Sunday 17 May, between 10am and 3pm. Charles and Lara will be delighted to welcome you and give you a tour. There’s plenty of parking, so drive right in.
