I’m sure there is zero doubt, but it’s clear that we are now living in the golden age of technology advancement. One great advantage to this age is the introduction and development of smart homes, so this month I would like to discuss some benefits of integrating technology into your home.
To put it generally, smart home technology refers to any set of devices, appliances or systems that share a common network, that can be independently and remotely controlled. This can mean your homes air conditioning, heating, lighting, speakers, security cameras etc are all connected into a common system. At first consideration, you might think it’s just a way to show off and keep up with technology, but I have found that that advantages of incorporating these systems into the home to be indisputably practical.
The most important benefit I believe is the ability to maximise home security. There are loads of smart security options available to you. Home automation systems can connect motion detectors, surveillance cameras, automated door locks throughout your home so you can activate and monitor them from wherever you are located, all from your phone or tablet. You can also choose to receive security alerts to your nominated device. This is a great way to see when packages have been delivered to your house or monitor suspicious activity.
The remote-control home function also offers some great advantages. Coming into summer, we can organise our house to be cooler for our pets, or before we arrive home from work. If you are worried you left the oven on, you can simply check and turn it off, all from your mobile device. Alternatively, you can order the oven to preheat just before your arrival for making dinner all the more simple and convenient.
Depending on how you use your smarthome technology, its possible to make your home more energy- efficient. For example, lights and motorized shades can be programmed to switch to evening mode as the sun sets, or lights can turn on and off automatically when you leave or enter a room.
As the year 2021 approaches, I highly recommend incorporating some smart technology into your homes as it’s benefits in security, energy efficiency and convenience are undeniable.
