Arcadian Quilting News – Some Things Never Change

We have been blessed with some wonderful sunny days recently and that was just what was needed to inspire this cheerful collection of ‘colours from the garden’ quilt, soon to be in someone’s home as we start to feel the ‘nod towards winter’.

With knitting needles clicking away and the wooly sox starting to make the odd appearances at meetings our thoughts are turning to winter projects for our group.

This ‘sampler quilt’ may be just the thing we can all share, creating a colour theme which gives us focus, each member could choose a block, make it up, add it to the collection …. we may even get two or three quilts with these interesting eclectic sized blocks? I want to start ‘now’ as I do like this idea !!!

Another look at Charity work is …’through a book sale’ and this is of personal interest to me. My husband is a Rotarian and we collectively spend many hours supporting whatever is the focus of the club at the time; be it selling books (which was our recent focus) to BBQs on Saturdays at shopping centres. Now we will look to the Sausage Sizzle at polling booths for the coming Election.

Along with buying too many books over the weekend I did manage to ‘catch a passing bug’ …. a legacy of venturing to mix with our wider population after so many months of living quietly I guess?

Alas, some things never change !! Our Quilting Group continues to meet at the CWA Hall opposite the Fire shed on Annongrove Road, Dural.

We meet on the 1st, 3rd and 5th Wednesdays of each month at 9.30am.
