Scouting is all about education for life, and 1st Dural Scout Kristina Taylor has certainly learnt many valuable skills during her time in Scouting. Since 2016 she has achieved Peak Awards in both Joeys and Cubs and recently achieved her Peak Award in Scouts – the Australian Scout Award.
Kristina joined the Galston Rural Fire Service as a Junior member and recently organised the local Scouts Clean Up Australia Day event. She also took on the role of Assistant Scout Hall Trustee for the 1st Dural Group as part of her project-based badge work. Such leadership and life skills have not only helped Kristina in her own personal development but have also been appreciated by the whole Scout Group.
In working towards the Australian Scout Award, Kristina also faced challenges in building her skills in bushcraft, camping, canoeing, and bushwalking. She led an Adventurous Journey that saw her step out of her comfort zone undertaking a three-day hike enjoying the spectacular scenery of the Marramarra National Park.
Scouting offers Australian youth a program that contributes to their personal growth, offers leadership development opportunities, develops resilience, and prepares them for the challenges and opportunities of a 21st century global community.
Dural Scout Group has vacancies for Girls and Boys from 5 to 25 years. Joeys (5yo), Cubs (8yo), Scouts (12yo) and Venturers (16yo).
