In the weeks since the floods ravaged our communities on the Hawkesbury, residents of the Berowra electorate are showing their incredible resilient.
While visiting Lower Portland I saw the damage to the St George Caravan Park and I saw the Wisemans Ferry Bowling Club impacted again. Some families had only just finished the clean-up from last year’s floods when they were struck for a second time.
To further assist those impacted by the floods, a National Emergency Declaration was signed on 11 March by the Governor-General, slashing red tape and allowing for streamlined recovery efforts.
This, in conjunction with the tremendous work being done by the RFS, SES, and ADF, will allow for a faster recovery.
The Federal Government is continuing to work with the NSW Government to provide support to flood-affected communities, with joint recovery funding reaching almost $1 billion, assisting small businesses, primary producers, councils, and households.
Impacted residents can apply for financial support through their MyGov account and through Service NSW. Please contact MyGov at 180 22 66 and Service NSW at 13 77 88.
Our community has much to be proud of as so many have stepped up to support each other and keep our community safe in times of disaster.
