This year, our Year 12s at Hills Grammar are again participating in the Worlds Greatest Shave. This tradition has been a crucial part of our Year 12’s final year at school since 2007.
It first began as we had the tragedy of one of our students losing a sibling to leukemia, and has been an integral part of our school and community ever since.
This year, students are impacted again by a close connection with their own peer, Florentine Gates, having been diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). In what was meant to be Florentine’s year to celebrate the conclusion of formal schooling, step up to her leadership duties, study for her HSC she is instead battling long hospital stays as part of her battle against leukemia.
Florentine shared a bit about her diagnosis with our Facebook community. To watch the video, please visit the following link: https://www.facebook.com/hillsgrammar/videos/346102048598494
For her friends, and grade head, they have raised the fundraising goal a further $20,000, bringing their total fundraising hopes to $50,000. With local communities donating and coming to the school for the big chop on March 18th, we thought it would be wonderful to reach out to you and see how far we can get these students’ hopes out there.
