Winter Bushwalking Season Kicks Off

Winter Bushwalking Season Kicks Off

With the winter season now underway, Hornsby Shire Council has unveiled its upcoming schedule of free guided bushwalks, which are aimed at providing a safe and enjoyable outdoor experience for residents.

This bushwalking program certainly has something on offer for all, with a wide range of events planned, some targeted at beginners looking to take an easy stroll, to those bushwalking enthusiasts looking for a challenging hike.

Bushwalkers will be sure to learn a lot on these outings, with professional guides and organisers providing fascinating insights into the natural and cultural history of the Bushland Shire. Locations for this winter season include Beecroft, Berowra, Berrilee, Cherrybrook, Cowan, Fiddletown, Hornsby, Hornsby Heights, Pennant Hills, Thornleigh and Wahroonga.

Hornsby Shire Council Mayor Philip Ruddock has encouraged locals to get involved in this bushwalking initiative.

“Winter is a fantastic time for residents to get out and about and see the Bushland Shire’s beautiful flora, whilst also learning about local plants and wildlife from some of our experts. I am a huge fan of bushwalking. It’s a great way to get in exercise and enjoy our natural environment,” Mayor Ruddock said.

The winter bushwalks are part of Hornsby Shire Council’s rolling program of guided walks which showcase the natural beauty of the Bushland Shire through the changing seasons. Programs are announced three times per year.
