Families in the Hills District can now benefit from enhanced access to specialist education with the official opening of two newly renovated classrooms at Warrah Specialist School in Dural.
These classrooms have been specifically designed for students in Kindergarten to Year 2 who have moderate to severe intellectual disabilities, including diagnoses such as autism or Down syndrome.
The school prioritises small class sizes and maintains a high staff-to-student ratio, thereby creating an environment conducive to academic, social, and emotional development. Principal Dawn Grant-Skiba highlighted the importance of early education, stating, “Early primary years are such a critical window. With the right environment and support, every child can thrive.”
Warrah Specialist School, which caters to students from Kindergarten through Year 12, is strongly committed to partnering with families and therapists. The school invites therapists to work on-site during school hours, fostering a coordinated and consistent approach to each child’s growth and well-being.
As enrolments open for the new K–2 classrooms, the school is inviting families to attend one of three upcoming Open Days:
- Thursday, March 12, 2026, from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM
- Monday, March 23, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM
These Open Days will give families the opportunity to tour the new facilities, meet the staff, and gain insights into the school’s approach to specialist education. Interested families can register their attendance through the school’s website or by contacting Warrah Specialist School directly. Additionally, private tours are available for families with K-2 students wishing to enrol in 2026.
