Seniors Festival Recap

Dr Michelle Byrne – Mayor of the Hills Shire Council

Last month we celebrated our wise and wonderful senior residents during our Seniors Festival!

The week-long program celebrated and recognised the remarkable contributions of our older residents—many of whom have devoted decades of support, knowledge, and care to building the vibrant, thriving community we enjoy today. It was our chance to say a heartfelt thank you for all they have done.

We hosted a fantastic lineup of free events for our seniors. The celebrations kicked off with a Seniors Expo, followed by a brunch at Castle Hill RSL, a hands-on environmental workshop, an energising Tai Chi class, and a free movie screening.

Overall, it was a fantastic week filled with connection, celebration, and gratitude, as we honoured our valued seniors.

Beyond the Festival, Council is proud to support seniors year-round through programs, activities, and workshops that foster connection, activity, and lifelong learning.

Here’s ways seniors can get involved this April:
Alive and Kicking Hills
Every Tuesday from 8:30am | Ted Horwood Reserve, Baulkham Hills

If you’re a senior who loves staying active, this one’s for you! Alive and Kicking is a fun, friendly over-60s soccer group that meets weekly for a light run-around. There’s no heavy contact, no pressure, just good company and plenty of laughs.
