Celebrate Seniors Festival with Us!

Bushfire season, Les Shore Reserve, rating structure

From 5th to 12th March, residents aged over 60 are invited to take part in a variety of activities that support wellbeing, spark connection, and promote active living. Our seniors bring energy, wisdom, and heart to The Hills – they are the backbone of our volunteering community, with 77% of Council volunteers aged over 60. Seniors Festival is a wonderful opportunity for us to say a huge ‘thank you’.

Seniors can chat directly with experts at the Seniors Expo, boost balance and mobility during a Tai Chi session, or roll up their sleeves at a hands-on environmental sustainability workshop. Those looking to relax and socialise can enjoy a brunch at Castle Hill RSL or sit back for a screening of Elvis Presley in Concert at Event Cinemas.

Road Projects Upgrade Cattai Ridge Road and Halcrows Road Upgrade
I’m pleased to share that road construction is now underway on the long-awaited upgrade of the Cattai Ridge Road and Halcrows Road intersection, with works expected to be completed by mid-2026. The project involves reconfiguring the centrelines of each road and creating a more perpendicular intersection, which will improve visibility and driver comfort.

River Road Embankment and Drainage Restoration
Work has now started on River Road to repair the roadside embankment, with the project set to be completed by April 2026, weather and site conditions permitting. These upgrades will improve drainage, strengthen the embankment, and repair the road pavement, making travel safer and more reliable for everyone who uses this road.

To keep up to date on these projects, visit www.thehills.nsw.gov.au and search for ‘Council Works & Projects Under Construction’.
