Dural Scout Group recently held their Awards and Report Presentations, celebrating another fabulous year of Scouting. They welcomed the Mayor, Hon. Warren Waddell, who presented Kristina Taylor with her Kings Scout Plaque. The King’s Scout replaces the Queen’s Scout and was renamed after His Majesty King Charles Ill confirmed his patronage of the Scout Association of Australia.
It is the highest award a Venturer Scout can achieve. Venturers must demonstrate a capability across core outdoor skills and progression across additional outdoor adventure skills such as paddling, cycling, aquatics, rock climbing etc.
They must also demonstrate leadership and achieve personal challenges across six identified special interest areas. Kristina challenged herself across a wide range of interests from developing barista skills, learning a new sport, and demonstrating her commitment to community service through volunteering with the Galston Rural Fire Brigade.
The King’s Scout Award, and Scouting more broadly, develops resilience and confidence in our youth members. These awards encourage them to build essential skills preparing them for leadership roles within the community.
A huge congratulations to Kristina and a special thankyou to the Mayor for his continued support of Dural Scout Group.
