Dural Probus Club’s Vibrant Social Life for Seniors

Every second Monday morning, a group of retirees packs into the Galston Club by 9:30 am — not for bingo, but for something livelier. The Round Corner Dural Probus Club has quietly built a social life that most people half their age would envy.

At a recent gathering that doubled as the club’s Annual General Meeting, no guest speaker was scheduled. Nobody seemed to mind.

The club’s resident joke master took the floor and kept the room laughing through a run of light, sharp stories that had members reaching for their morning tea in good spirits. After the break, the AGM got done faster than anyone expected, so the group broke into teams for trivia — the kind of game that turns polite neighbours into fierce competitors.

But Mondays are just part of it. Members recently loaded into cars and headed out to the Hawkesbury region, wandering Windsor’s old sandstone streets before settling in for lunch at the Church Bar. The Hawkesbury pulls people back year after year — the food is good, the pace is unhurried, and the river light on a clear day is hard to argue with.

A week after Windsor, a smaller group spread out blankets at Turkey’s Nest Reserve in Beaumont Hills. The reserve has shaded picnic shelters, walking tracks, and a platform overlooking a duck pond — the kind of place that invites you to stay longer than planned.

New members and curious visitors are always welcome. Contact the club at [email protected] or call Lei on 0412 585 741.
