It was smiles all round when the Combined Probus Club of Cherrybrook held its first face to face meeting since March at Allegro Function Centre at Kenthurst. Over 80 members attended necessitating the use of the verandah area as well as the main function hall. Due to current restrictions there was no opportunity for mingling but that made little difference to the happy and loud banter at the tables. President Peter warmly welcomed everyone and inducted three new members to the club. So wonderful to know that there are community members ready to embrace the good times of the future! Activity leaders outlined upcoming events – golf, bowls, walking, social drive, book, craft and a welcome return of the movie and dining out groups. The guest speaker, Noel Phelan from the Maritime Museum delighted the audience with a presentation of ‘The Halvorsen Story’ rekindling pleasant memories of Hawkesbury cruises. The meeting was followed by a sumptuous lunch, the only time when the happy chatter subsided. The success of this event bodes well for our Christmas party.
