Play IT Forward and Donate

Dural Toy Library, a community toy library that provides local children and families access to a wide range of toys, is currently having its autumn toy donation drive. From March to May, the library is on the lookout for new and second-hand toys.

Middle Dural Toy Library President Emily Kothe said in addition to contributing to a worthy local cause, the toy donation would reduce the amount of waste that ends up in landfill, particularly plastic toys which take hundreds of years to decompose.

“Australians put 26.8 million toys into landfill every year, often these are toys that still have lots of life left in them. Toy libraries like ours help give toys a new lease on life even once children have outgrown them,” Ms Kothe said.

Donations can include puzzles, board games, outdoor toys, costumes, as well as traditional toys. Toys will be screened and cleaned before being added to the library. Donations can be dropped off at the Middle Dural Toy Library at 1 Sunnyvale Rd Middle Dural. Toys need to be clean, in good condition, and have all the necessary pieces and instructions. The library won’t accept broken or damaged toys, toys with missing pieces or toys with button batteries.

“We appreciate the community’s support in helping us create a diverse and engaging collection of toys for our library members,” Ms Kothe said.
