NSW Seniors Festival Awards

As part of the NSW Seniors Festival, our community came together on 30 April for a special morning tea at The Hills Club to celebrate three outstanding local nominees for the 2026 Local Seniors of the Year Awards.

These remarkable individuals represent the very best of The Hills. Through decades of service, they have made a lasting difference in the lives of others and helped shape the community we are proud to call home.

Kenneth Walsh has devoted more than 30 years to supporting veterans and their families through the Castle Hill & District RSL Sub-Branch. From visiting veterans in aged care to assisting with RSL Funeral Services and supporting Anzac Day commemorations, his contribution has been both practical and compassionate. His quiet dedication continues to make a lasting difference across the community.

Ann O’Connor is widely respected for her compassion and leadership in supporting veterans and their families. For over a decade, she has regularly visited veterans and widows at the SAN Hospital, while also contributing to fundraising, poppy appeals and the Families of Veterans Guild. Her care and commitment have strengthened the local veteran community.

Elaine White, fondly known as the “Mayor of Annangrove,” has spent more than 30 years protecting the environment and preserving local heritage. From her work with the Annangrove Environment Centre to her involvement in numerous community and conservation groups, Elaine’s efforts have helped safeguard the character of The Hills for future generations.

We congratulate Kenneth, Ann and Elaine on their well-deserved nominations. These are the people who make The Hills such a special place to live.
