Normanhurst Boys High School student wins Youth of the Year

Normanhurst Boys High School Year 12 Student, Max Galanti, was successful in winning this year’s Youth of The Year (YOTY) Quest Club Judging sponsored by The Lions Club of West Pennant Hills Cherrybrook.

The West Pennant Hills Club has been supporting the National Youth Quest since its formation in 1964 to encourage and develop local youth.

Max brings great credit to his school and is a most worthy winner. He is an accomplished student at Normanhurst Boys High, plays Soccer, Water Polo and Baseball, a member of the school debating team, is very community minded and plans to study Law and Commerce. Max has left an amazing impression on teachers, parents, judges and his peer contestants in particular.

Normanhurst Boys High School student wins Youth of the Year 

The Lions annual Youth of the Year Program is one of the best- known Youth engagement / development projects in Australia with over 140,000 young Australians entering the Quest since its inauguration in 1964. Contestants at all levels are encouraged to engage in community service and to share their thoughts and ideas about Australia through the medium of public speaking.

Our Youth of the Year Alumni includes young Australians from all walks of life including business, sports, fields of education, health The Arts and trades. The National winners go on to be wonderful representatives of Australian Youth, building bridges of goodwill internationally, fostering high standards of leadership and understanding the problems of needy communities in other countries.  

The Club’s President, Philip Watson, acknowledged the dedication of our Club’s YOTY chairman, Lion Gavin Ridley, a retired senior teacher from Normanhurst Boys High who has been a wonderful advocate and promoter for the Quest since joining Lions International.

Gavin’s drive and energy to maintain the Quest’s high standards is valued by local school communities thus building interest and the reputation of YOTY, which attracts many high calibre contestants from all backgrounds.
