An additional charge has been laid after a man died in hospital following an alleged assault on Tuesday, 5 November.
Just after 8 pm on Tuesday, emergency services were called to a licenced premises on Merriville Road, Kellyville Ridge, following reports of an assault.
On arrival, officers attached to Riverstone Police Area Command were told a man had allegedly punched a 55-year-old man, leaving the scene prior to police attending.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the man before he was taken to Westmead Hospital with critical injuries.
Police established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the incident.
Detectives from Riverstone Police Area Command established Strike Force Sestao to investigate the circumstances surrounding the assault, assisted by NWMR Detectives and the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad.
Following inquiries, a 43-year-old man was arrested at about 8:30 AM on Wednesday, 6 November, in Glendenning.
During a search of a property in Plumpton, police allegedly located 36 cannabis plants and a hydroponic setup. Officers also located and seized a number of items for forensic testing.
Friday, 8 November 2024, Police were notified that the 55-year-old man died in hospital.
The 43-year-old man has now been charged with assault occasioning death. He is next due to appear at Blacktown Local Court on Thursday, 21 November 2024.
He was charged with reckless grievous bodily harm and cultivate plant on Wednesday, 6 November.
