“The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints covers all operational costs for the Light the World Giving Machine initiative.”
Combining kindness with convenience, Light the World Giving Machines are redefining charity, offering a fun and impactful way to help Australians in need this Christmas.
Popping up in Sydney from November 27, 2024, to December 27, 2024, at Westfield Bondi Junction, Castle Towers and Macarthur Square, Giving Machines allow Sydneysiders to effortlessly support local and global charities with just a simple tap.
Giving Machines Sydney has partnered with six leading charities, including UNICEF Australia, FOODBANK NSW & ACT, GIVIT, Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation, The Smith Family and CareFlight.
Already transforming charitable giving in 108 locations, including Las Vegas, London, and New York, this global Christmas initiative has raised over AUD $50 million, directly benefiting vulnerable communities.
Giving Machines make giving more accessible and engaging than ever, ensuring 100% of all donations go directly to charity, maximising the impact of every contribution.
Giving Machine national charity partner and UNICEF Australia Fundraising Director Libby Hodgson said, “We are witnessing a shift in the way Australians approach charitable giving. People want to make a difference, but they’re often time-poor.
“The Giving Machines make it incredibly easy and engaging for anyone to contribute to causes that matter. Through our partnership with the Giving Machine, the funds raised enable us to reach more children with emergency supplies during conflict, natural disasters and humanitarian crises,” Libby said.
Giving Machine Sydney Ambassador and Fox Sports Australia presenter Jemma Barge shares her enthusiasm for the initiative: “Many of us want to help but aren’t sure where to begin. The Giving Machines make giving back as easy as buying a snack.”
“With 100% of every donation going directly to those in need, it’s a fun and heartfelt way to turn kindness into action,” Jemma said.
Located in busy public spaces across Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney, the Giving Machines offer Australians an instant opportunity to provide essentials like clothing, meals, school supplies and life-saving medicine for those facing hardship.
Each city selects local charities to take part in and ensures donations address the unique needs of each community. Once a donation is made, a card symbolic of the purchased item is dispensed.
The Giving Machines have also attracted widespread support from high-profile names like Drew Barrymore, Travis Kelce, Paul Rudd, and Dan Reynolds, each advocating for the impact of these charitable vending machines.
The Castle Towers Giving Machines will run from Wednesday, 27 November to Friday, 27 December 2024 and can be found on Level 2 (next to Santa) – 26-14 Castle St Castle Hill.
