Cherrybrook resident Julia D’Souza celebrated her special 100th birthday recently, surrounded by her family and friends (pictured right).
To mark the grand occasion, a service was held at Saint Agatha’s Church in Pennant Hills, followed by a reception The Madison in Dural.
Julia received greetings from her late Majesty and Her Royal Highness Queen Elizabeth II, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and the Governor-General David Hurley. She is eagerly awaiting her letter from the Pope.
Julia and her husband George moved to Australia from Goa, India in January 2018, moving in with her daughter Audrey and her family in Cherrybrook.
The D’Souzas have been married an incredible 73 years and to this day, the “young-at-heart” couple still laugh at each other’s jokes, according to daughter Audrey.
The beautiful couple spend their days reading, going on daily walks and enjoy spending time with their family, which is now four generations.
“We sit at the back of the house near the pool when the weather is good and chat about our days when we were young,” Julia described.
Daughter Audrey said age is not a barrier for her parents – “as they say, take one day at a time and live life to the best”.
