Iconic New Swing Bridge Opens in Pyes Creek Bushland

A new swing bridge in Pyes Creek Bushland, Cherrybrook, was today opened by the Hon Mr Stephen Bali MP, Parliamentary Secretary for Planning and Public Spaces, and Hornsby Shire Mayor, the Hon Philip Ruddock AO, project-managed by Hornsby Shire Council and co-funded by the NSW Government.

This new iconic local asset will reconnect access between Keighran Place, Cherrybrook, and Fallon Drive, Dural.

The NSW Government contributed $1 million to the ‘Pyes Creek Elevated Walkway’ project, selected as part of the NSW Government’s $250 million NSW Public Spaces Legacy Program.

Hornsby Shire Mayor Philip Ruddock said that Hornsby Shire Council was delighted to partner with the NSW Government to provide this new, high-quality facility for the community to enjoy now and for generations to come.

“We are very excited to launch this valuable facility in our bushland at Pyes Creek. We thank the NSW Government for its support in turning this project into a reality. We also appreciate the support from the Member for Hornsby, the Hon Matt Kean MP for advocating for this grant,” Mayor Ruddock said.

“This new infrastructure will provide safe and easy access for residents, and an improved experience for all. It is a significant boost for the local area.”

Mr Stephen Bali MP, Parliamentary Secretary for Planning and Public Spaces said the new swing bridge will be used by the local community for generations to come.

“This is a great example of what can be achieved for the community when levels of government work together on a shared goal,” Mr Bali said.
