



Hornsby Shire Council invites older residents to join free activities for the NSW Seniors Festival. This year’s theme, “Live Life in Colour,” celebrates the contributions of older adults and promotes creativity, connection, and positive ageing.
The program offers a variety of events aimed at enhancing well-being and fostering community togetherness.
The event lineup includes:
- Dementia to ‘Rementia’ talk, Cherrybrook Community Centre, Monday 2 March, 10 am-12 pm (bookings essential)
- Tech Savvy Seniors – Introduction to Computers, Hornsby Library, Tuesday 3 March, 10.15 am-12.15 pm (bookings essential)
- Wellbeing Expo for seniors – listen to the guest speakers and learn about local clubs and groups including Hornsby Bushcare, Hornsby RSL, Tuesday 3 March, 10 am-12 pm (bookings essential)
- Compassionate Connector Training for those wishing to support older people living with a life-changing illness, Hornsby Library, Thursday 5 March, 10.30 am-5.30 pm (bookings essential)
- Hornsby Dementia Expo for support, information and resources for carers and individuals living with dementia, Westfield Hornsby Level 3, Thursday 5 March, 10 am-12 pm
- Age Pension: Your Choices, Hornsby Library, Friday 6 March, 2-4 pm (bookings essential)
- Live Life in Colour art exhibition, Wallarobba Arts and Cultural Centre, Hornsby, Tuesdays-Sundays, Friday 6 to Sunday 22 March, 10 am-4 pm
- Senior and Student Sing – an inclusive, intergenerational singing event for seniors, The Galston Club, Tuesday 10 March, 10 am-1.30 pm (bookings essential)
- Chair Yoga for Seniors, Hornsby Library, Thursday 12 March, 2 pm-3.30 pm (bookings essential)
- CPR and Basic First Aid Workshop for seniors, Hornsby Aquatic and Leisure Centre, Thursday 12 March, 10 am-12.30 pm (bookings essential)
Hornsby Shire Mayor Warren Waddell said the program reflects Council’s commitment to celebrating older residents and supporting active, healthy and connected ageing.
“The NSW Seniors Festival is a wonderful opportunity for our senior community to come together, learn and access useful information and support available,” Mayor Waddell said.
“We encourage residents to take advantage of these free activities to build confidence, learn new skills and connect with services to support healthy ageing.”
