Hornsby Shire Council has announced its free guided bushwalks, offering an educational and enjoyable outdoor experience this autumn.
The curated program highlights some of the region’s most scenic and ecologically significant areas, catering to both casual walkers and more experienced hikers. Participants can expect guided commentary focusing on biodiversity, conservation and the area’s cultural background.
Autumn bushwalk schedule:
- Sunday 1 March – Blue Gum Walk, Hornsby
- Friday 6 March – Parks Week Walk, Beecroft and Cheltenham
- Saturday 14 March – Whale Rock Bushwalk, Pennant Hills
- Saturday 11 April – Jerusalem Bay Bushwalk, Cowan
- Sunday 19 April – Youth Week Walk from Thornleigh to Hornsby via the Great North Walk
While most events are limited to Hornsby Shire residents, the Youth Week Walk welcomes participants aged 16–24 from any local government area.
The autumn series forms part of the Council’s established seasonal walking calendar, released three times annually. With previous programs attracting strong interest, would-be walkers are advised to secure their places early. Bookings for March events are now open, with April registrations opening progressively.
Comprehensive event details and booking information are available through the council’s website.
